Fruitful Play ("Fruitful Play," "we," "us," or "our"), operated by Fabiana Skubic, provides a parent-first mobile app that helps families build character through Scripture, prayer, games, and daily practice. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Fruitful Play is designed for parents and guardians, not for children to use on their own. A parent or guardian creates and controls the account and enters any information about a child. Children do not have their own accounts and never log in.
01 Who controls the account
The app is operated by the parent or legal guardian who signs up — or an adult they have authorized to act on their behalf (the "account holder"). The account holder is responsible for the account, for any child profiles they create, and for supervising their children's use of the app. By creating a child profile, the account holder confirms that they are the child's parent or legal guardian, or that they are authorized by the child's parent or legal guardian and have permission to provide the child's information and to give consent on the parent or legal guardian's behalf.
02 Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the app. We do not sell your information, and we do not show third-party advertising.
a. Account information (from the parent).
- Email address and password — handled by Amazon Cognito; we never see or store your raw password.
- Parent first name (for the in-app greeting).
- Language preference (English or Portuguese).
- An approximate region — inferred from your app-store region, device settings, or language preference (we do not ask you to type your country) — used to apply the correct privacy law to your account.
- Your notification preferences and, if you enable push notifications, a device push token (used to deliver reminders — see (h) below).
- Your marketing-communications choice. At sign-up you may opt in (unchecked by default) to hear about future Fruitful Play products. We store this choice and a dated history of changes as proof of consent — see (i) below.
b. Parental-consent record.
When you create your account, you affirmatively confirm that you are the child's parent or legal guardian, agree to our Terms and this Privacy Policy, and consent to our processing of your child's information. We record this consent as a structured entry (whether it was granted, the date and time it was granted, the version of the policy you agreed to, and where the consent was captured — for example, at sign-up). An account cannot be created without this consent. See Section 5 for more on children's privacy.
c. Child profile information (entered by the parent).
For each child the parent adds:
- A display name or nickname (the parent may use a nickname rather than a legal name).
- Whether the child is a girl or boy (used to personalize wording).
- Birth month and year (used to compute an age range for age-appropriate content; we do not store a full date of birth).
- Optional interests the parent enters (used to personalize activities).
d. Activity and progress data.
- Themes/qualities chosen, generated activities, practice sessions completed, earned "fruit" stickers, streaks, and stats.
- After-Play Feedback you provide (a rating of how an activity went and optional free-text notes).
- Optional "describe a struggle" free text you enter to personalize an activity (see (e) below).
e. Struggle text (parent-authored free text).
You may optionally type a free-text description of a situation or struggle to make an activity more relevant. This is free text authored by you, the parent, and at your discretion it may include sensitive details about your child or family. We use it only to generate that activity (and, where applicable, to suggest matching themes). It is private to your account. You can delete it, and it is removed when you delete your account. Before this text is used, the app screens it for signs of urgent risk (such as abuse or self-harm) and, if detected, shows a safety-referral message instead of generating content.
f. AI generation data.
To create an activity, prayer, or theme suggestion, we send the relevant inputs — which may include the chosen theme, the child's display name/nickname, age range, interests, prior feedback, and any struggle text you provided — to our AI provider, Amazon Bedrock (Anthropic Claude models), running in the United States. Per our configuration, Bedrock invocation logs are metadata-only and do not store the prompt or response content. We do not use your data to train AI models. (These commitments reflect our current configuration; we will update this policy if that ever changes.)
g. Subscription / payment data.
Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple's App Store and Google Play. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. We receive subscription status (active, trial, expired) needed to unlock the app.
h. Notification data.
If you enable push notifications, we use Amazon Pinpoint to deliver them and store a device push token/endpoint and your notification preferences (for example, a daily play reminder, which you can turn off). You can disable notifications in the app or in your device settings at any time.
i. Marketing-communications data.
If you opt in, we may send you marketing emails about future Fruitful Play products (such as books, kits, or devotionals). Marketing email is opt-in (off unless you choose it), separate from transactional email, and every marketing message includes an unsubscribe link. We use Kit (an email service provider, based in the U.S.) to manage our mailing list and send these emails. We send marketing only to parents whose consent is currently active, and a child's individual information is never used to target marketing; at most we use a non-identifying signal such as "has a child in a given age range."
j. Technical and diagnostic data.
Standard server logs (e.g., request metadata, timestamps, error logs) used to keep the service secure and reliable. If we enable crash reporting (see the processor table in Section 6), we may also collect diagnostic information about app errors.
We do not intentionally collect precise location, contacts, photos, or device microphone/camera data. (If you save or share a card image, that happens on your device through your operating system's share sheet.)
Sensitive information. Because Fruitful Play is a Christian app, your use of it may reveal your family's religious beliefs or affiliation — which some laws (including the Australian Privacy Act) treat as "sensitive information." By creating an account and using the app, you consent to our collecting and using this information for the sole purpose of providing the app's faith-based activities. We do not use it for advertising and we do not sell it.
03 How we use information
- To provide the core app: generate and deliver age-appropriate activities, track practice and stickers, and show your family's progress.
- To personalize content for a specific child (age range, interests, prior feedback).
- To operate, secure, debug, and improve the service.
- To manage your subscription and free trial.
- To send service (transactional) communications about your account and security via Amazon Cognito, and push notifications via Amazon Pinpoint. These are part of the service you signed up for.
- To send marketing communications about future Fruitful Play products only if you opted in, and only until you withdraw consent.
04 Legal bases (GDPR/LGPD where applicable)
Where the GDPR (EU/UK) or LGPD (Brazil) applies, we process personal data on the bases of: performance of a contract (providing the app you signed up for), consent (which you give as the parent when you create your account, when you agree to processing your child's information, and when you opt in to marketing; all withdrawable), legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, service improvement), and legal obligations.
05 Children's privacy (COPPA & LGPD Art. 14)
Fruitful Play is directed to parents, and only a parent or guardian provides information about a child.
We obtain and record verifiable parental consent before any child data is processed. When you create your account, you must affirmatively confirm that you are the child's parent or legal guardian and consent to our processing of your child's information; account creation is rejected if you do not. We store a version-stamped record of this consent — what was granted, when, the policy version in effect, and where the consent was captured (see Section 2(b)). This is an affirmative, recorded consent gate, not a passive assumption.
We collect the minimum information needed to deliver age-appropriate content (a nickname, age range, sex, optional interests), and we do not require a child's full legal name or full date of birth.
We do not knowingly allow children to create accounts, make purchases, or contact others through the app. If you believe a child has provided us information without parental involvement, contact us at hello@fruitfulplay.app and we will delete it.
Parents can review, edit, or delete their children's information at any time in the app, or by contacting us. A child's information is never used as a marketing-targeting signal.
07 International data transfers
Our infrastructure runs in the United States (AWS us-east-1). If you use the app from outside the US (including Brazil or the EU/UK), your information — which may include a child's nickname and any struggle text you enter, since these are sent to AI processing in the US — is transferred to and processed in the United States.
We rely on the following transfer mechanisms:
- EU/UK (GDPR): the AWS Data Processing Addendum, which incorporates the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum) for transfers of personal data to the United States.
- Brazil (LGPD): the equivalent contractual safeguards in our processor agreements, together with your consent (the consent you provide as the parent) as a basis for the international transfer of your and your child's data.
08 Data retention
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we hard-delete your parent and child profiles, practice data, and your authentication record within approximately 7 days.
Two limited exceptions:
- Compliance/audit record. We retain a de-identified record of privacy-relevant events — including consent grants and changes, data-export requests, and account deletions — for approximately 7 years as a compliance record. This record does not contain your account content (no child profiles, activities, or struggle text); it is kept to prove that consent was captured and that rights requests were honored, as required under laws such as GDPR, LGPD, and CAN-SPAM.
- Legal/tax obligations. Where we must retain limited records to meet legal, tax, or security obligations.
Backups (e.g., DynamoDB point-in-time recovery) roll off on their own schedule.
09 Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live (e.g., GDPR, LGPD, California/CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export (data portability), or restrict processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent.
- In the app: edit or remove child profiles, change your language, manage notification and marketing preferences, and delete your account (which triggers deletion of your data).
- Export your data: request a machine-readable copy of your data, including your marketing-consent history.
- Withdraw marketing consent: use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or the in-app toggle, at any time.
- By request: contact hello@fruitfulplay.app to exercise any right. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
When you exercise your right to erasure, we delete your account content as described in Section 8, subject only to the de-identified compliance/audit record and any legal/tax-retention obligations described there.
You will never be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.
10 California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA.
Categories of personal information we collect (as defined by the CCPA): personal identifiers (such as an email address and account/device identifiers); customer records (such as a parent first name); commercial information (subscription status); internet/network activity (in-app usage and diagnostic data); and information about a child that the parent provides (nickname, age range, sex, optional interests, and any struggle text). We collect these for the purposes described in Section 3.
We do not sell or share personal information, including the personal information of minors, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have not done so in the past 12 months.
Your rights: to know/access the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, and to obtain a portable copy. You may exercise these rights as described in Section 9.
Right to non-discrimination: we will not deny you service, charge you a different price, or provide a different level of quality because you exercised your privacy rights.
11 Security
We use industry-standard measures: encrypted transport (HTTPS), encryption at rest, managed authentication (Amazon Cognito), least-privilege access controls, and account hardening (MFA on administrative access). No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you of a breach as required by law.
12 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new effective date and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
